Meeting on the Road
Peter and John are classmates. One day, they met on their way home after school. Peter asked John what was wrong with him because John looked a little pale. John told him that he didn't feel well because he had a cold and a slight fever. Peter asked John if he had seen the doctor. John said that he had and the doctor had given him some medicine and asked him to take a rest. Peter advised John to stay in bed for some time and to take good care of himself. John thanked him and asked him to tell the teacher that he wanted to ask for a day's sick leave.
Dear Mother,
I feel bad today. I saw the doctor. At first I told him I had a fever and felt very tired. I was aching all over and got a sore throat. The doctor thought I caught the flu that's going around here. Then he looked at my throat and checked my pulse rate. After that he told me there was nothing serious. He asked me to have a few days rest and drink more water. At last he gave me some medicine. I think I'll get well in no time.
Don't worry about me.
Good Manners
Manners are important to good relations among people. No one likes a person with bad manners. A person with good manners never laughs at people when they are in trouble. Instead, he tries to help them. When he asks for something, he says “Please”. And when he receives something, he usually says “Thank you”. He does not interrupt other people when they are talking. He does not talk loudly or laugh loudly in public. When he sneezes or spits, he uses a handkerchief. As a student, it is bad manners to come late to class. If you are late you should make an apology to the teacher either at the time or after class.
